Chocolate Covered Strawberry Latte

Sometimes mornings just call for a decadent latte and this is one of them! This Chocolate Covered Strawberry Latte is like the classic dessert but in latte form and packs 13 grams protein.

Ingredients

Strawberry Syrup

  • 4 oz fresh or frozen strawberries (if fresh, remove stem and cut them into quarters)
  • 113 grams (1/2 cup) water
  • 99 grams (1/2 cup) granulated sugar

Chocolate Sauce

  • 99 grams (1/2 cup) granulated sugar
  • 113 grams (1/2 cup) Alta Dena Protein Milk
  • 21 grams (1/4 cup) unsweetened cocoa powder

Strawberry Cold Foam

  • 1 tbsp strawberry syrup
  • 56 grams (1/4 cup) Alta Dena Protein Milk

Strawberry Garnish

  • 1 strawberry slice, stem removed and sides removed
  • 2 oz bittersweet chocolate

Latte

  • 1 strawberry, stem removed and quartered
  • 2 tbsp strawberry syrup
  • 1 1/2 tbsp chocolate sauce
  • Ice
  • 6-7 oz Alta Dena Protein Milk
  • 1 oz freshly brewed espresso

Instructions

Strawberry Syrup

  1. Combine strawberries, water, and sugar in a small pot and bring to a boil.
  2. Reduce to a simmer and let cook for 10-15 minutes.
  3. Strain and let cool completely before using.

Chocolate Sauce

  1. Combine sugar, milk and cocoa in a small pot.
  2. Whisk constantly until it thickens, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and transfer to a heat safe dish to cool completely before using.

Strawberry Garnish

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Chop chocolate and place in a small microwaveable bowl.
  3. Microwave in 10 second intervals, stirring between each until fully melted.
  4. Carefully dip one end of strawberry slice into the chocolate at an angle. Place on baking sheet and chill until ready to use.

Latte

  1. Brew espresso into a small glass and set aside.
  2. Add chopped strawberry to the bottom of a tall glass and muddle. Add 2 tbsp strawberry syrup on top followed by 2 tbsp chocolate sauce.
  3. Add ice and 7 oz milk followed by espresso.
  4. In a medium sized glass use a handheld frother to froth the milk and strawberry sauce until it has doubled in size and is thick. Start with the frother at the bottom of the glass and after a few seconds move it upwards to help.
  5. Carefully pour strawberry cold foam on top. Gently add strawberry garnish to the side of glass. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Use your desired amount of espresso and milk.
  • This drink is best enjoyed immediately.
  • Leftover strawberry syrup can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 weeks.
  • Leftover chocolate sauce can be stored in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
