  • Sugar cookie dough for cut-out cookies
  • Spider web template printed on cardstock – print
  • Scissors
  • X-Acto Knife
  • Rolling pin
  • One or two small mats or thin cutting boards to use with X-Acto knife
  • Cookie spatula or fork
  • Cookie sheet lined with parchment paper
  • Toothpick
  • Sugar, for topping

  1. Download and print the spider web template on cardstock.
  2. Cut the border of the template out with scissors and carefully cut the inside sections out with the X-Acto knife.
  3. Prepare sugar cookie dough as directed, divide in half, wrap each half in plastic wrap, and chill until firm.
  4. Once the dough is well chilled, take out one half, sprinkle flour onto mat or cutting board, and carefully roll it out. Try and keep it on the thicker side, rolling it out to a little less than a 1/4 inch thick or so.
  5. Place mat with cookie dough into freezer for 5-10 minutes and repeat this process with the other half of dough so you always have half of the dough to work with while the other half chills.
  6. Once the dough has chilled again, hold the template over the dough and use the X-Acto knife to carefully cut around the shape. The knife should slide right though the dough for a clean cut. Repeat this process until you have several spider webs cut out and place them in the freezer on the parchment lined baking sheet for 5-10 minutes before repeating this process with the other half of dough.
  7. Transfer the chilled shapes back to the cutting mat, realign template with each spider web cut out, and use the X-Acto knife to now cut out the inside sections. Place the spider web cookies back on the baking sheet in the fridge for at least 15 minutes.
  8. Once all spider webs have been fully cut out, sprinkle sugar over them. You can use a toothpick to move the sugar away from the cut out sections so that they won’t be filled with sugar once they bake.
  9. Chill cookies on baking sheet for about 5 more minutes in the freezer before baking them as directed.
  10. Let cookies cool on baking sheet for 10-15 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
  11. Enjoy
