A love of baking and Disney movies combined? What’s better than that? Join me as I bake my way through one Disney movie at a time! Follow along at #marisabakesdisney 🎥
Disney’s One Hundred and One Dalmatians debuted on January 25, 1961. Did you know that most of the spots on the dalmatians in the film feature hidden Mickey’s? Or that Xerox was used to duplicate the hundreds of dogs?
I decided to make a sugar cookie version of the puppies that are in the film, complete with little black spots! Then I decided to take each cookie and form it into cookie sandwiches with a cookies and cream buttercream filling.
Did you know that Eyvind Earle also made the book that is seen at the beginning and end of the movie by hand? The book is made out of hammered brass with various jewels, and has been on display in various archives throughout the years. I chose to recreate this book, but in cake!
“Sweet princess, if through this wicked witch’s trick, a spindle should your finger prick… a ray of hope there still may be in this, the gift I give to thee. Not in death, but just in sleep, the fateful prophecy you’ll keep. And from this slumber you shall wake, when true love’s kiss, the spell shall break.” – Sleeping Beauty
I chose to bring this classic movie to life with a little inspiration from it’s most iconic Bella Notte scene. I made a plate of spaghetti just like in the movie…except in pie form, raspberry pie that is.
